Creating a campaign
Beta product
This product is currently in beta. It may not be available to all Kevel customers, and features described may change before the product is generally available.
This is publisher-facing documentation
Because every Kevel Self-serve instance is uniquely customized to the publisher's branding and use case, exact Self-serve functionality will vary from publisher to publisher.
For this reason, Kevel does not provide advertiser-facing documentation for your advertisers to use. However, these pages can be used as a starting point for providing your own educational materials for your advertisers.
Click Create Campaign in the navigation bar to set up a new campaign.

If there are multiple types of campaigns available to create, you will see a series of tiles. Choose the campaign type you wish to create.
You will see a set of steps on the left side. Please note that step names, descriptions, and requirements will vary by publisher. The type of campaign you are creating is shown above the steps.
Campaign setup
On Campaign Setup, enter a campaign name, start date, and end date. Your publisher may require a certain campaign duration, and may require an end date or not.
Budget
Choose your daily, monthly, or total budget. Depending on the publisher's settings, there may be a budget minimum.
Depending on the publisher's settings, your options for bid type may vary:
- Automatic bid: Choose a ROAS goal and maximum CPC for automatic bidding
- Manual bid: Specify a manual CPC or maximum CPC bid
Manual bidding
For a manual bid campaign, set a CPC (cost per click) or maximum CPC.
- In a first price auction, the CPC is the amount you will pay when a customer clicks on your sponsored product ad.
- In a second priced auction, the maximum CPC is the maximum amount you are willing to pay for a click. The actual amount you will pay will be $0.01 higher than the next-highest bidder.
Depending on the publisher's settings, there may be an enforced minimum or maximum CPC value.
Automatic bidding
For an automatic bid campaign, set a target ROAS and a maximum CPC. Your CPC in each auction will be automatically adjusted in order to optimize for the ROAS value you selected.
Depending on the publisher's settings, there may be enforced minimum or maximum values for ROAS and maximum CPC.
Products
When creating a campaign that entails promoting products, you will be able to specify which products to promote on your campaign.
Depending on the publisher’s settings, you may be able to promote products for your campaign in the following ways:
- Static - Specify a list of products to promote - Products you choose will be added to the campaign individually.
- Dynamic - Choose a set of filters. This campaign will be regularly updated with matching products - Products will be automatically added to or removed from your campaign throughout its duration based on the criteria you choose and updates to the publisher’s catalog.
Static product selection
The data you see about products available to promote and the filters you can use when selecting products will depend on the publisher’s product catalog configuration.
The left pane shows all products currently available for you to promote, based on your brand and/or merchant ID. Here, you can:
- Filter available products
- Show & hide product attributes for available products
- Access bulk actions
The right pane shows products you have added that will be promoted within this campaign. Here, you can:
- Filter added products
- Show & hide product attributes for added products
- Access bulk actions
Filtering products
Available filters will depend on your publisher’s settings.
Some filters, such as “categories” in the example above, are dropdowns. This type of filter allows you to type the either category's ID or name and select the desired value by hitting enter or clicking. Or, you can open the dropdown to scroll available dropdowns.
Some filters, such as “brand ID” in the example above, allow entering a list of values to search. In this case, there is no typeahead functionality available.
Other filters, such as “description” above, allow entering a single value to search.
Showing & hiding product attributes
Click the 3 dot menu to customize which displayed product attributes to show and hide.
Bulk actions
The following bulk actions are available when adding products:
- Export all products available to promote as a CSV
- Bulk select by a list of Product IDs, or upload a CSV
- Add all products
- If any filters or search terms are applied, then only those products that match your search and/or filter criteria will be added.
- If there are more products available for you to promote than are allowed for promotion on a campaign, then only the maximum allowed number will be added, as determined by the order of the products in the list.
The following bulk actions are available when removing products:
- Remove all products
- Remove selected products
- Bulk remove by product ID
- Edit bid by product ID (if enabled by publisher)
- Edit bid for selected products (if enabled by publisher)
Adjusting per-product bids
Depending on the publisher's settings, you may be able to alter your bid for individual products. A product-specific bid will override the bid set on the campaign, for that product only.
There are 4 ways to change a product's bid:
- Change a product's bid individually on the right-side panel
- Set a custom bid for products when bulk selecting products by using a list or CSV of IDs
- After products have been added, select the products whose bids to update and choose "Edit bid for selected products" in the bulk actions menu
- After adding products, specify a list of product IDs whose bids to change.
Dynamic product selection
Dynamic product selection allows you to define a set of filters. Your campaign will automatically include products that match those filters in the publisher's catalog.
The left panel shows available filters. To see currently matching products, click "Load Products." When you are happy with your filter selection, click Next Step to save your choices.
If too many products match your search, you will see a prompt to narrow your filters before you can move on to the next step.
Targeting
This step may or may not be included within a publisher's Self-serve implementation.
Search keyword targeting
Enter keywords for exact match keyword targeting.
Bid modifiers
Bid modifiers may or may not be available based on your publisher's settings. Available bid modifier settings shown here may vary from your publisher's settings.
Bid modifiers enable you to increase your bid on specific keywords, sites, or zones. You may choose to increase or multiply your bid in cases where your ad could be eligible to appear in connection with certain keywords, sites, or zones on the publisher's site or app.
If site bid modifiers are enabled, your publisher may also allow you to reference top site performance when setting bid modifiers.
Click "See data insights" to view a list of the top 10 performing sites for all your campaigns and for this campaign, with impression, click, CTR, and ROAS for each. You can use this data to make more informed decisions about how to modify your bid per site.
